More of My Story

I grew up in Portola Valley, California, long before helicopter parenting was "a thing," I was lucky enough to have a mom and dad who encouraged me to seek out independence, exploration, and a way to navigate myself through many challenging life circumstances. We rode horses, played tennis, and hiked in the hills. Life was very carefree. I feel greatly blessed to have experienced life in the 7Os.

Throughout my entire life my goal has been to help other people. In the early 70s, my parents read some of the first self-help books ever written. At that time it was very unheard of to pay any mind to psychology. My parents were seekers, hoping to find ways to heal themselves and help their kids navigate through confusing life circumstances. As a result my three siblings and I have all made it our life-long goal to seek out ways to heal and help others.

The brain innately knows how to heal itself. I have always known that healing does not start or end with a therapist who interprets the issues at hand and tells the client what they need to do in order to heal. (Should you meet such a therapist… my suggestion would be to run for the hills!) What I know to be true is that my interpretation of the client's life events is not what heals them. Their brain knows how to clear trauma from the past to give them a sense of peace, happiness, and renewed connection to their authentic self.

For years I have searched for a modality that would help people heal without re-traumatization. For this reason I remained a body worker for over 30 years. Talk therapy alone did not provide clients with all of the tools necessary to heal from trauma. Because trauma is trapped in the body at the cellular level, I continued to do bodywork in hopes of allowing the client to heal through massage. I felt if I could give people free psychotherapy in combination with bodywork, it would help alleviate their stress.

Talk therapy alone does not work for trauma. I myself have been re-traumatized by well meaning therapists time and time again who have unknowingly triggered re-traumatization. My entire life's purpose is to use state of the art neuroscience-based techniques to help clients reconnect with their authentic self. Through this process people will be able to reprogram their brains for better functioning.

That's why I am passionate about Brainspotting. My job is to create a safe space and empower my clients to let go of past programming that has prevented them form living a full and joyful life. Brainspotting literally rewires the brain which allows clients to attain the peace and happiness which has always been their birthright.

It is important for my clients to realize that they are in charge. I follow the client. I am well trained in helping my clients reconnect with the innermost parts of themselves that know truth to restore balance and accomplish a sense of calm, peace, and homeostasis. Because our brain programming runs deep, I offer clients several tools which help them relax their nervous system. I guide them through their pain as well as teach them tools they can use when not in my office to aid when they suffer triggers or unwanted feelings.

Therapy is a process. The fact that many people have had years of trauma and sometimes a lot of it happened in the early years of life, does not mean that it will take years to clear. It's a journey that helps people return to who they really are; who they were before somebody hurt them. Through my own exploration I have found that Brainspotting is the key for me to clear past events and move forward with my life. I know that helping to heal others is my calling. I am dedicated to lovingly help others on their path to recovery.
